The state of the art Wine Mate cooling units are top of the line, and are not imported but made here in the Los Angeles area. This is very important because something as vital to keep your cool cellar, should not be trusted with inferior components. The ordering wine 1500 is UL approved, which becomes essential when considering a wine cabinet. The crates are made of wood which is then coupled to aluminum to create a solid support. Although the 3 3 / 8 is the standard racking (bang for your buck for storing wine), we recommend updating 3 3 / 4 racking so that more of the new wines can fit in your cellar. You will loose bottle capacity, but your bottles will fit more easily in the racks. Most of these units are designed with back exhaust, where you need a minimum of 4-6 inches at the rear of 12 inches on the sides, and 6-12 inches above for proper ventilation.
